Voice therapy for adults

Your voice does a lot of work, and when it feels rough, tired, or unreliable, it affects your day and how you connect. Voice concerns can come from strain, overuse, or medical causes, and they respond well to focused therapy. We help you find a stronger, more comfortable voice that holds up to what you ask of it.

What you might notice

  • Ongoing hoarseness or a raspy voice
  • Your voice tires or gives out by the end of the day
  • A tight or strained feeling when you talk
  • Losing your voice, especially if you use it a lot for work
  • Your voice does not sound the way it used to

How we help

We look at how you are using your voice and build techniques that reduce strain and add strength and endurance. Terri evaluates and Allee delivers the sessions under her supervision. Because lasting voice changes should be checked medically, we may ask that a physician examine your voice first so therapy is safe and well aimed.

What a session looks like

Sessions teach healthier ways to breathe, produce, and sustain your voice, with practice tailored to how you use it in daily life. If you rely on your voice for work, we build in the demands you actually face, and we send home exercises to reinforce the gains.

Voice therapy fits adults at any age, from professional voice users to anyone whose voice has changed.

Common questions

Should I see a doctor before voice therapy?+

Usually yes. A medical exam of your voice, often with an ear, nose, and throat physician, rules out other causes and helps us target therapy safely, especially if hoarseness has lasted a while.

I use my voice all day for work. Can you help?+

Yes. We work with professional voice users often, building strength and endurance and healthier habits so your voice holds up to the demands of your job.

How long until my voice improves?+

It varies with the cause and your practice, but many people notice their voice feeling easier and more reliable over a course of regular therapy.
