Children's speech therapy
Articulation and speech sounds
When a child leaves out sounds or swaps one for another, it can be hard for others to understand them, and that can wear on their confidence. The good news is that speech sounds respond well to focused, friendly practice. We help your child say the tricky sounds clearly and carry them into everyday talking.
What you might notice
- Hard for people outside the family to understand by age four
- Trouble with specific sounds like r, s, l, or th
- Leaves off the ends of words
- Swaps one sound for another, like w for r
- Gets shy or frustrated when asked to repeat themselves
How we help
We begin with an evaluation to pinpoint which sounds are off and why, then teach each sound step by step in a way that feels like a game. Terri sets the plan and Allee delivers the sessions under her supervision. We practice from single sounds all the way up to conversation so the clear speech sticks outside our room.
What a session looks like
A session moves through playful drills, books, and games that sneak in lots of practice without feeling like work. We celebrate small wins often, and we send home a few quick activities so a little daily practice keeps the momentum going.
Some sounds are expected to develop later than others, so we tailor targets to what is typical for your child's age.

Common questions
Isn't it normal for young kids to mispronounce sounds?+
Yes, many sounds develop over time, and some later than others. We compare your child's speech to what is typical for their age, so we only target sounds that are genuinely behind.
How long does articulation therapy usually take?+
It depends on how many sounds are involved and how they respond, but many children make steady, visible progress over a few months of regular practice.
Can we practice at home too?+
Please do. Short, playful practice at home is one of the biggest boosts to progress, and we will show you exactly how to help without any pressure.
