Children's speech therapy
Childhood voice concerns
A child's voice can become rough, hoarse, or tired, sometimes from things like frequent yelling or vocal strain. When a raspy voice sticks around, it is worth a closer look. We help children use their voices in healthier ways so speaking feels easy again.
What you might notice
- A hoarse or raspy voice that lingers
- Loses their voice often or sounds strained
- Complains that talking makes their throat tired
- Voice sounds breathy or keeps cutting out
- Tends to talk very loudly or strains to be heard
How we help
We look at how your child is using their voice and build friendly habits that reduce strain. Terri sets the plan and Allee delivers the sessions under her supervision. Because a lasting hoarse voice should be checked medically, we may ask that a doctor take a look first so therapy is safe and on target.
What a session looks like
Sessions use playful activities that teach easier, healthier ways to talk and to protect the voice. We keep it fun and concrete, and we help your family spot and soften the habits that tire the voice out.
We shape voice work to your child's age so the ideas make sense and feel doable for them.

Common questions
Should a hoarse voice be checked by a doctor?+
Usually yes, especially if hoarseness lasts more than a couple of weeks. A medical exam rules out other causes and helps us tailor voice therapy safely.
What causes voice problems in kids?+
Often it is vocal strain from things like frequent loud talking or yelling. We help your child find easier ways to use their voice so it can recover and stay healthy.
Can my child's voice get better?+
Many children's voices improve as they learn gentler vocal habits. We build those habits together in a way that fits everyday life.
